This will be up for a while so that I can try to decide what my greatest hits were to transfer them to Spin so that my loyal readers can still enjoy the best of Me4President.

Although Republispin is not yet perfect, I think it is at a much better point than when I first started customizing this site. Without a lot of help from others, this site would have been nothing more than a one column blog filled with formatting errors, a fuschia background, and neon green text. It would not have been pretty. Or, maybe it would have been pretty, just not functional.

I think that when I get to 15,000 hits on this site, I will switch over to Republispin and make that the official site of the recently ordained in The Church of Spiritual Humanism, Me4President. There is still work to do, but I like where it is at so far and that I have more control over everything. Plus, I get to learn a lot playing around on it.

What the hell is going on? I know that bad things happen in war and that collateral damage is hard to prevent, but how do you tell someone we are the better choice when this happens? Are we better because we don't behead the people we kill?

I have called people fags too. Although, most of the time since I left grade school I was usually talking to a gay friend and didn't feel comfortable calling them bitches in public. I was also regularly called a fag by one of the guys in the Army because I used facial moisturizer and conditioner for my hair. He was one of the "don't tell" people in the Army who did his job well. I wish I could remember his name. I still need to get him back for tackling me in a touch football game.

I think Chuckles my freshmen year at Iowa was the first who I regularly called fag. Most of the time it was because he was talking about his newest crush or sexual escapade though. I often called my roommate Brian a whore for the same reason.

I just wonder if Guillen would be comfortable with going someone talking about his Venezuelan heritage in derogatory terms. After all, in some parts of this country, it is perfectly acceptable to talk about people who are different in those terms.

A Hollywood-budget public service announcement aims at discouraging suicide attacks in Iraq and elsewhere. I wonder how many people have stopped teaching their kids racist attitudes because of NBC's "The More You Know" campaign.

Everyone knows that the passage, "thou must deny thy poor basic health care and a living wage and thou must protect thy riches" can be found in The Gospel of Dick, Chapter 7 million, Verses 1.3-2 billion.

I don't want to say this because God will put a pox on my ass, but religious conservatives and religious values are very different things. There are good conservatives who believe in Christian values and there are Liberals who do the same. It is my opinion though that if you categorize yourself using a religious and a political descriptor, you are more than likely using religion for your own political goals.

I have no doubt that Michele Bachmann believes what she says she does. I just don't think she understands Christian values. I think there are a lot of people who want us to see the Bible as an historical text, but think they are wise enough to interpret for us what Christ's words or deeds actually meant. Which in many of their cases is that it good to ignore the poor, gather wealth, and hate difference.

Somehow preemptive stone casting has also become a Christian value. It has become acceptable to shoot first and debate later. All you have to do is say that God told you to do it or that you were just trying to protect Christian values. I think people need to learn Christian values before they start protecting them.

Being a politician on the left is not. The message has not been the problem, it has been the messengers. And more accurately, their failure to put any type of message out there.

I do not think that President Bush and his people have had any type of real message that has helped them win. They have just talked like they have a vision and for the most part, have scared the shit out of people over terrorism, gay marriage, and taxing dead people.

The problem has been that the message from the left is nothing more than we are not the right. The last governor's election in Minnesota got screwed up because a Democrat who didn't get the nomination decided to run as an Independent. Pawlenty won in large part because the Democrats are sore losers and whiners.

It is the same nationally and locally. Democrats put out a message of "we can't do worse" and Republicans say, "we may be screwing stuff up, but at least we are trying." I imagine that 2006 will have elections the same as the past few were Republicans hold on or gain seats. Not because they are better suited for the offices, but because they pretend to believe what they are saying.

Rep. Jefferson loses Democratic caucus vote

I don't know for sure if he is guilty or innocent. I know what I believe and that is that he is guilty, but I have no proof or evidence in my hands to prove that.

I just think that an honorable individual would step aside while the investigation and legal processes are moving forward. If he is guilty, not stepping down is selfish and shameful. If he is innocent, stepping aside would give him the time to mount a defense without the distraction of having to defend himself to his colleagues. Plus, I imagine that he could get his spot on the committee back if he is found to not have violated any laws.

As it is, he is no better than any Republican I have criticized for corruption and wanting the power more than the responsibility

Shouldn't Kennedy have already made changes?

Besides the fact that I actually hate Mark Kennedy for things he has said about people who questioned Bush or opposed invading Iraq, this is one of my pet peeves with Kennedy and his supporters. They keep talking about how he is the man to change the way things work in DC and make our government work for us. What has he been doing for the past 6 years?

If he is that ineffective at making a difference, why should we elect him? Forget that I think he is a wanker asshole and will someone please explain to me like I have no bias why anyone should vote for Kennedy? Don't tell me I hate America or call me a godless Liberal baby killer. Just give me an honest argument for Kennedy that doesn't revert to me being a traitor or wanting America to fail.

It won't happen. For one thing, I doubt any Kennedy supporters read my blog. I know it is hard to believe, but it is true. Apparently when you challenge a guy to a fight or offer to imprint your dog tags on his forehead because he never responded to why you hate America even though you served in the military and he didn't, his fans don't like you.

Although I have been a proponent of same sex marriage for a while, maybe it is leading to the decline of our society.

There will be some that argue that the proliferation of guns is a cause of the additional violence, but look at how peaceful it was in the Old West when everyone had a gun.

There are even some who will say that poverty and other issues involving the lower classes and those "left behind" account for our societal decline. Intelligent people like myself understand that even our poorest citizens are better off than in most parts of the world. They don't turn to crime just to get by, they kneel to thank God that they get to live in America and be wealthier than most citizens of several continents.

I think one thing we can all agree on is that we never had any problems before homogays wanted special treatment. There was no divorce and no molestation of children. Crime was almost nonexistent and everyone had health care because there were no diseases out there that people needed treatment for that raised the cost.

Our heroes were straight men like Liberace and Rock Hudson. Now, we have those Queer Eyes guys, Clay Aiken, and blasphemous movies about gay cowboys. It is no wonder that America is going to hell.

Oh wait. None of those things have been caused by gay marriage. They have been caused by a society filled with hate and blame. Obviously, noone in America is responsible for their own actions.

They cheat on their spouses because of gay couples. They commit sex based crimes because of Will and Grace. They even want to convince people that our troops are dying because God is punishing us for homosexuality.

Homosexuality is not a sin in America, it is a scapegoat. None of our problems are caused by good people wanting to legalize their loving relationships who happen to be gay. They are caused by ignorance and fear. Both of which our leaders and religious people want to spread across the nation like a cancer. An intelligent citizenry that is not scared, is one that is not as easy to persuade that only you know what is best.

Why was it acceptable for a few judges to decide that President Bush won an election, but not for those same judges to decide an issue like gay marriage?

I think that the 58% who oppose gay marriage are dimwitted and that the 40% who support amending the Constitution are ignorant fascists. We make amendments to end discriminatory practices, not to make discrimination into law because some people think God is going to smite the US. I hope God does smite us so that all you self-righteous assholes will find out that Jesus is not the hateful and closeminded person you make him out to be.

Twin Cities confident about an '08 convention

Even though the Democratic Party and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things, I would love to attend a convention. I would go to the Republican convention if I could, but I think I would be less likely to fit in there. I would have the white part down, but our differences are more than just skin deep.

Going to the Dems convention would be especially nice if I could get Al Gore to run and somehow get him the nomination. I don't like Hillary, unless she is the nominee and that is who I need to like to get invited. Then, I can go back to not liking her afterwards.

I think they should make me a delegate. They need that voice who they will call the "crazy person" to make it look like they are not all simple minded clones.

Plus, what kind of party would it be without me? Look at what has happened since I switched from being a registered Democrat to an Independent. The Dems have lost both presidential elections, the Senate, the judiciary, most state governments, and have allowed discrimination to be made law in some states because of their ineffectiveness.

The Bible is a compilation of items selected by people to advance their own views. How many different versions of the Bible are there and how many differences are there between those versions? The Bible being called accurate and honest would be like me only choosing to count the games that the Chicago Cubs won so that they made it to the playoffs and saying that sounds fair.

The Books of the Bible were not chosen based on historical accuracy, but on what best fit what others believed happened. I have no doubt that a man named Jesus who was a prophet lived a couple thousand years ago. From what I know of them, Muslims and Jews also do not contest this fact. It is the Son of God claim where people differ.

So, to say that the Christian Bible stands up to scrutiny of its accuracy, you would either have to believe that the other religions were wrong. I like reading the Bible. I don't however, think it is good because of its historic accuracy. I think it is good for ideas on how to be a good person.

Pelosi asks Democrat to quit key committee.

Congressman Jefferson refused to resign from the Ways and Means Committee when asked, but I actually think he should resign his seat in Congress. Maybe you are innocent and the tape they have of you accepting a bribe from an informant is bogus. Either way, you are a distraction from the duties of Congress and your presence in Congress can only hurt the Democrats in the upcoming elections.

It is time to be the bigger person and resign unlike many others who have stayed in office while facing potential legal problems. Your responsibility to your constituents outweighs your own personal ambitions and the Democratic Party.

If you are innocent, you can run again in 2 years. During that time, you can hang out and get to know the people in your district better. You can build a house or two or lecture at schools that seem to have been left behind on why an education is important. You can still help your constituents and then have even more legitimacy with them when you run again.

We are not talking about silly or petty charges here. Your focus will need to be on your own defense and your constituents could suffer because of that. Maybe it is time a politician actually thinks of the people he represents first.

Letter: Clark, Wetterling do not represent 6th District values

I would agree that Tarryl Clark calling Michele Bachman a devil is a little unprofessional. Regardless of whether or not Bachman is evil, it sounds more like a schoolyard insult than an adult argument as to why you should vote against someone.

I still see our most vulnerable of citizens as children who have already entered this world. They also did not have the choice as to when or where they came in or who their parents were. They did not get to choose whether or not they would have health care, sufficient food, a loving environment, or adequate school systems.

Mr Cocking talks of fair play being a part of the 6th District. Yet, also seems to believe that marriages or relationships that he does not support deserve fair treatment. Although I agree that too many in my district hold Cocking's opinions, that does not make them right. You can't talk of fair play and at the same time try to say who deserves fair treatment.

Maybe God is opposed to same sex marriage. It is not relevant to the issue of whether or not it should be legal. It may speak to the religious morality of an issue, but morality is also subjective. If God is opposed to loving couples being able to have the same rights and protections that I do, then I would rather go to Hell. I don't think God is as hateful as so many Christians are.

I am also tired of values arguments. What one person values may be extremely offensive to someone else. There are certain things that most people will agree upon such as murder and theft that are wrong. When you get into Biblical arguments for or against something, you are regulating not just religious views, but your interpretation of some ancient text. What the hell is a suicider?

Isn't a "suicider" just a murderer willing to sacrifice himself to kill others? Saying "suicider" makes you sound like a moron. The person is nothing more than a dead murderer. I understand trying to sound cool and using emotion provoking words, but this accomplishes neither goal. It just sounds like an uneducated person trying to sound intelligent.

Tony Snow said, "We'll stay only as long as the Iraqi government wants us to stay there." If the Iraqi government works for the Iraqi people (since we have spread democracy all over Iraq) and the people start asking for us to leave, will we leave or say that the government knows what is best. That works here because Americans are stupid and lazy, but what if Iraqis actually want some sense of participation in the affairs of the state?

Bush Not Likely to See Gore's Film

1. President Bush is still mad that Al Gore had the audacity to question God's will that Bush was destined to be president

2. President Bush does not like facts. Especially those that counter his belief that fossil fuels and humans are actually good to the environment.

3. President Bush is from Texas where hairspray is considered a necessity and they need all the CFCs they can have to reach the top of the women's large ass hair.

4. President Bush is convinced the world will be cooling down soon because God told him he would be president when hell froze over.

I can't for sure say that global warming is real. But I do believe that the habits and arrogance of humans has caused damage to our planet. I also believe that Al Gore sincerely believes that global warming and the environment are the most important issues for the health and safety of the American people.

I think this quote by Bush pretty much sums up how he views the whole world.

"And in my judgment we need to set aside whether or not greenhouse gases have been caused by mankind or because of natural effects and focus on the technologies that will enable us to live better lives and at the same time protect the environment."

That is pretty much his view on everything. We could focus on what has gotten us to where we are and maybe learn something, or we could believe that the past is not relevant and hope it works itself out. That is his philosophy in Iraq, on the environment, and in regards to relations with other nations and institutions.

While Al Gore is trying to get people to pay attention to global warming, President Bush is praying that people will not pay attention to his actions and just listen to his rhetoric. The man of integritude and straight (very straight, he would like you to know) talkificating has proven to be anything but.

Unfortunately, because there are millions of stupid people in America who don't think before they vote, Bush has been elected and others like him will be elected in the future. By the time they figure it out, it may be too late. And then, of course, it will be the fault of those who did not support Bush for not doing more.

And we proclaim ourselves God's greatest achievement. I wonder if God sits around wondering what the hell happened?

Angelina Jolie will be named Secretary of State and countries that do not have a favorable view of us will suddenly want to spend a lot of time in "diplomatic relations."

I have a better idea

Why don't we start with protecting the lives of those we already have. Just an idea I try to throw out occasionally and see if it sticks. Maybe we would be better served to try and give everyone the best chance to not grow up poor, undereducated, neglected, and potentially bitter to a system that everyday fails them.

Virgil talks about 45 million lives lost because of abortion, but fails to think what another 45 million lives in American would look like. We have people complaining about 11 million immigrants taxing our services and support structures. What would happen if we added millions to the roles of those needing help who we can't blame on immigration?

The blot on this land that needs to be addressed first is the over 500 years or oppression. From our earliest days, we have attacked and neglected all of those who were different. Whether they were native to the land, poor, black, Irish, female, gay, sick, had disabilities, or just didn't agree with us. Although we have done a lot to correct many of our wrongdoings, we still have a long way to go.

I am all for freedom of speech and the right to create video games without much hassle, but this game just sounds fucked up.

I was also in Colorado at the time of the attack. I was actually in Littleton on funeral detail and had no idea anything was going on until I got back to base. Columbine High School was improperly reported to be in Littleton at the time. I have never thought of making anything to promote a "dialogue" where when the killers claim another victim, a box pops up saying, "Another victory for the Trench Coat Mafia."

Those two guys were heavily armed pussies. Who, in the end, didn't have the balls to face people who also had guns. This game does not start a dialogue on anything. We can talk about bullies and outcasts, jocks and nerds, but there was no justification for trying to kill everyone in a school.

As for the creators contention that school shooters are at times "very thoughtful, sensitive and intelligent young men." I would imagine that the same has been said of serial killers and dictators like Hitler at some point.

I am of the opinion that if you are secure in your faith and believe you are right, movies and books should not make you doubt that. It is like your sexuality. If you are secure in who you are, why does it matter if someone else is different?

"The Da Vinci Code" is just a movie or a book by the way. Unless there is something in there that touches a nerve or hits too close to something, let it go and just don't go see it. Plus, if someone is swayed by the movie, they are probably too dumb to be in any religion. Of course, that is the people many religions target.

Look at evangelicals and many religious leaders. They do not accept debate or even put forth teachings that make sense when you truly look at Christ and his life as portrayed by the Bible. They want people prone to hate easily and the self-righteous who think that God plays favorites. They don't want people who will read "The Da Vinci Code" or who will read the Bible. They want sheep.

I think blasphemy is using God to molest children and take advantage of the weak. Blasphemy is saying that we need tax cuts for the wealthy and saying that something awful like 9/11 or Katrina happened because God was angry. Blasphemy is what you hear on Fox News and from James Dobson or Fred Phelps and those like them. Blasphemy is not a movie or a book, it is misrepresenting the words and teachings of Jesus to advance your own agenda.

I am tired of so-called religious people throwing around terms like blasphemy and sinner like they were consulted by God as to the definition of those terms. Who is not a sinner? Whether small or large, we have all sinned in one way or another.

I went to see "Jesus Christ Superstar" and my opinion of Jesus did not change because of it. I did not see Jesus as a bad singer just because Sebastian Bach did a horrid job in that role. I am able to look at a screen and know that things on there aren't always true. If they were, I would have barricaded my house with duct tape and plastic because Fox News would have me scared all the time that terrorists or liberals are trying to kill me.

Although I know the term did not originate as a derogatory term, some do use it that way. It just leaves too much open for misinterpretation. That would be like calling the war on terror a crusade.

The expression tar baby is also used occasionally as a derogatory term for black people (in the U.S. it refers to African-Americans; in New Zealand it refers to Maoris), or among blacks as a term for a particularly dark-skinned person.

I supported Howard Dean as head of the Democratic Party because I thought he was principled. Why is Howard Dean courting whacko Christians? The only thing I have in common with Pat Robertson and those like him is that I also believe in a god. I just believe in a God that does not hate or discriminate.

I do believe that there are some good evangelicals. They do not seek publicity or recognition, however. They go about humbly doing what they believe is right and don't try to force what they believe is right upon us. The majority of Christians are good and fair. Unfortunately, the minority is loud and influential because they bring in the money.

Democrats will never get the votes of people Dean was talking to. They can never out-evangelical the Republicans. Dems need to not appear hostile towards all people of faith while still opposing those who use God to further their own hatred and prejudices.

I am a person of faith. I do not believe in the god that so many people talk about now. The God I believe in has reserved a special spot for Robertson, James Dobson, and Falwell. It will be a gay bar that is packed every minute of every day and only allows parking in the rear. They will spend an eternity listening to good dance music and watching married gays bringing their adopted children to dinner in the little cafe upstairs.

I find it hard to believe that Dean "misstated" what the party stood for. He spoke what he thought they wanted to hear. This will be the beginning of why Democrats do not do as well in 2006 as many believe they will. Democrats haven't figured out when to talk and when to be quiet. They remain silent on important issues where they could start a real debate, but possibly upset some people. Then they open their mouths and say stupid things and inconvenient times.

I wish I never heard terms like Southern strategy. A good candidate has an American strategy and that does not vary based on where you are speaking. People know when you are pandering to them. The people who fall for it are not bright enough to separate rhetoric from reality and we should not put our elections in their hands. We have given power to the intellectual lazy and simple minded. We need to take it back and we can't do that by telling hateful people that we have a lot in common with them.

I thought it was odd when a recruiter told me that if I reenlisted, he wouldn't tell my wife about all those calls to gay and fetish phone lines. Now, I know why.

President Bush said, ""Our intelligence activities strictly target al-Qaida and their known affiliates." I wonder if he uses the rationale of many of his supporters that people who do not support the president are supporters of the terrorists? I wouldn't put it past him. Like some of his supporters, he is not very bright or nuanced in his view of the world.

I still don't get why they can't go through legal channels. I see on TV all the time how they wake a judge up to get a warrant when they feel it is urgent to get one. The only logical reason is that they have no "legal" justification for many of the cases.

National security has become a tired issue. I believe in defending America and its people and I support those with that as their goal. But that is not the goal of President Bush and his people. They want us to think they are doing something by using smoke and mirrors to distract us, but in the end, they just want us all to kiss their asses.

I think they should make Angelina Jolie Secretary of State. Then, make the lady who plays Deputy SecDef on E-Ring the real SecDef. Maybe Denzell as head of Homeland Security and one of the CSI characters as Attorney General. They may not know what they are doing, but they couldn't do any worse. Plus, we will at least have something nice to look at while we are being duped.

I was reading somewhere about how poorly the US ranks on infant mortality compared to other developed nations, and I think it proved something I have been saying for a while. Many of the people who describe themselves as right to life, should actually call themselves right to birthers.

I am not trying to imply that all people who are anti-abortion are hypocrites. I think there are many in the movement who think that abortion is indeed immoral and do care what happens after birth, but look at many of the politicians and major advocates and watch them. They talk a good game, but in the end, they need abortion on the table as an issue. For them, abortion is more of an electoral issue than a moral dilemma.

The only bills that get proposed are bills that even if passed, there is a high probability that one court or another will overturn it. If it actually stayed as law, that issue would be removed from the public debate. And they also couldn't complain about activist judges.

I am pro-right to die pretty much across the board. I think that euthanasia is perfectly moral if the person is in pain or terminal and wants to end their life on their terms. I believe that some criminals just need to be executed. I also believe that a woman has a right to choose what happens with her body. I also believe that before birth, the baby is a part of her body.

I guess my point is that life extends beyond birth and if you are pro-life, you need to focus on all life. Some people do and even though we differ on some issues, I can respect their values. Many however, believe that the poor and sick are just caught up in the process of natural selection where the haves have because they are just better people. But, how many wealthy people would have made anything of themselves without trust funds and money bailing them out of every problem in life?

Over the weekend someone mentioned Darfur and another person who was with us said that she didn't care what happened in Darfur. Besides the statement itself pissing me off, the person it came from really angered me. The individual who said it is big on everyone needs to support gay rights. At least she talks like she is big on them. I hear her talk a good game, but think she is more into thinking being gay means you are an activist.

She thinks that I should care what happens to her rights which I do, but doesn't think she should care about others who are treated far worse than she is. I understand that we need to focus on Americans and that the proposed amendments to further ostracize homosexuals are evil in the best light, but I also understand that no child should suffer. Not in America. Not in Europe. And not in Darfur, Sudan. In reality, no person should suffer in the ways that many around the world do.

I don't want it to sound like I am minimizing the injustice to gays in America. There is nothing worse than being called unequal and unworthy. I can also understand focusing on your own situation first. But to say you don't care is just ignorant. Especially if you are trying to tell others why we should fight for you.

I just think we either need to think of all people as human regardless of where they are from or any other trait we use to separate each other, or we need to expect that others won't think of us in the same way.

I never seem to stop learning new things. Take today for example, I was watching Fox News and my main man G Dub came on. You are thinking, Scott, what could President Bush teach you? I will tell you. He taught me that terrorists had attacked us on September 11, 2001.

I vaguely remembered campus closing having my afternoon classes cancelled for some type of security reasons, but I didn't know for sure what had happened. For all I knew, it could have been for any reason. It is not like anyone has ever mentioned 9/11 since then. How would I have known that something happened if George W Bush hadn't broken his silence and released classified information that terrorists attacked us?

Some might call it coincidence, but with the number of things that have changed after I wrote about them, coincidence cannot explain it. I will not go over my list of successes like getting Andrew Card to resign and that I wrote to our CEO that it seems odd that our companies decline has come over the 5 years since we hired Jeff as VP of Sales and then he "chose to leave" the company not long after, but I am pretty sure there are a lot of them. Why is it that one American life is more valuable than 300,000 in Sudan? I understand that our government's job is to protect us first, but how can our leaders go into Iraq using humanitarian relief as an excuse and not do the same in Darfur?

That is what I find most hypocritical about the supporters of invading Iraq. At least give me an excuse that makes sense. I would take we need to stabilize oil markets because our economic survival depends on it over Saddam was a bad guy. Compared to other areas, Iraq was a utopia.

Besides that, in a world where you can get almost anywhere in a day, there is no such thing as a short sighted view of our "backyard." As we saw on 9/11, our backyard extends to Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Africa. Failed policies in places like Somalia and Palestine have helped spread the view of the US as evil and uncaring.

How many times do people have to say "never again" before they actually mean it.

I am forced again to think of root of all my political knowledge, The West Wing. In an episode the president asked why he saw an American life as more valuable than someone else's and the response was, "I don't know, you just do."

V-I Day

It seems like it was just 3 years ago that we defeated the Iraqi military and brought utopia back to Mesopotamia. I can barely remember the weeks of violence and death that led to our overwhelming victory. It feels nice to know that we were able to get back to al Qaeda and Afghanistan and that the majority of our troops could come home. The conquering hero told us it was so by landing on an aircraft carrier, in a jet that I am pretty sure he violated laws to fly, and told us that we had accomplished our mission.

At least it would be nice if it was true. As it turned out, the only thing we accomplished was shaking a hornet's nest. To make things worse, we let the hornets invite in their friends by not having enough troops to secure the borders or the towns. We were so busy celebrating that we never noticed things were spiraling out of control.

Of course we all knew it wouldn't go the way we were told. Well, those of us who are intelligent enough to think on our own and be rational knew what would happen. With a ragtag army, jets with no wings, and tanks with no track, I didn't see much in the way of their ability for "major combat operations."

Since I am talking about Iraq, if I hear one more jackass compare Iraq to WWII or the Civil War, I am going to snap and. They always say that we lost more people on D Day or at Gettysburg than we have in Iraq. No shit, we were going up against well armed and trained forces in those wars.

Providing aid and comfort to the enemy

I think it is pretty clear that President Bush is not high on my list of respectable and effective leaders. To be honest, he is not on my list of leaders at all. That is why it pains me to say what follows.

Let me first say that Karl Rove does not have pictures of me doing anything embarrassing. And no, I have not been offered a position in the White House.

President Bill Clinton is to blame for the current problems in Iraq and Afghanistan. I would like nothing more than to give all the blame to President Bush and his merry band of jackasses, but only the incompetence, poor planning, and dishonesty can be blamed on him. The real blame for the current situation in Iraq goes to President Clinton and those who forced him to withdraw from Somalia after Mogadishu.

Leaving Somalia gave our enemies hope. Hope that the people would not have the resolve to see dead Americans and hope that our politicians would choose political reasoning over larger picture thinking. Many of the same people calling for resolve and "staying the course" today, were crying about Americans dying for foreigners back then.

Although a lot of the blame should fall on those people in Congress more interested in destroying Clinton than issues that actually affected Americans, Clinton was the only person with the power to pull the troops out. Now we are in s struggle where no matter how bad it gets, how incompetent our decision makers are, or how much the Iraqis want us out, we cannot leave. Forget what leaving would do to a country that we trashed, but leaving would provide those who hate us that we are weaker of spirit than they are.

So, now I am stuck providing aid and comfort to the enemy because I am engaging in their favorite pastime, blaming a Clinton.

President Bush and Me4President disagree on way to handle high gas prices.

I am not really sure what easing the clean air rules will do for our gas prices. Maybe gas will go down 2 or 3 cents, but health care costs will go up as we all get asthma and cancer from the added pollutants. I also doubt that oil executives are sitting there saying that they would lower the cost if someone would just get rid of those regulations that hinder their ability to produce gas.

If Me4President was the "decision maker," this is what he would do. First, I would tell people that they need to take some responsibility for the current situation. Americans need for gas is no different than the alcoholics need for liquor or the addicts need for drugs. The first step is admitting you have a problem. Hopefully Jesus will come to President Bush and cure him of his oil abuse.

Second, I would put everything we have into developing more efficient, cleaner, and reproducible energy sources. Are you telling me that the generation that sent people into space in less than a decade is smarter than we are? We have technology that even NASA didn't have and we can't figure out how to end or greatly reduce our need for oil? We need a leader who challenges us in the way President Kennedy did.

And finally, I would let anyone who made less than an acceptable living wage right all gas expenses off their taxes. Then, I would penalize the oil companies the amount that was written off and will use that for further research to make oil and gas obsolete.

What we need is to get serious about the future demands on our society. We can't keep putting things off because it is easier for us. Reducing the gas prices will be great, but it will only help until the next increase.

I only have 2 sources that I trust to give me news. And now I am not sure I can trust one of them. I still have faith in Keith Olbermann, but last night The Daily Show shook the foundations of what I believed.

They were showing a segment on weather and showed a tornado in Iowa City, Nebraska. As far as I can tell, there is no Iowa City, NE. There is an Iowa City, IA that had tornadoes and severe storms a week or so ago. I do not know if I can get over this and trust Jon Stewart for all of my news again.

Defense Urges Jury to Deny Moussaoui Martyrdom

I think this Moussaoui is a putz that can't do anything right and needs us to make him a martyr. He obviously wants to die. Although I am for the death penalty for some crimes, I don't think he deserves it in this case.

What was up with the testimony by the prosecution? Giuliani was there and they played tapes that seemed to be for no other purpose than emotional impact. Did any of the jurors not know what happened on 9/11?

It was a shitty day and Moussaoui was locked up in prison. He may not have told us everything he knew, but some people were saying that something was going to happen and they believed he was supposed to have a part in it. Those people were ignored fro the most part. Why don't we try the people who didn't follow up with all the power of the federal government?

Noone could have known before hand how big the events of that day would be. I imagine that Osama was in the middle of celebrating his success when the towers fell and he had a spontaneous orgasm because it was even more than he expected.

Killing Moussaoui serves no purpose except to make him a hero to some and make some people who think revenge will make them feel better. If you really want revenge, you should have forced President Bush into putting our full might into capturing and killing every member of al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

Killing Moussaoui equaling justice is like thinking putting a ribbon on your car equals patriotism.

I always read things or see people on TV talking about how troop support for the war In Iraq is unanimous. I am not sure how that is determined, but I am pretty sure it has not accurate.

Although I have not talked to every Soldier, Sailor, Marine, or Airmen in combat, I have talked to quite a few. Some approved of going into Iraq and others have not. A few changed their minds to say it was wrong after being there.

I think people, and especially people who haven't served, get support and doing a job confused. Not every person in Iraq supports the war, but they all want to do their jobs and do them well. It is not like Congress or the White House where you can make mistakes and get away with it. In combat, making mistakes could mean that someone dies. Not like they die when someone makes a bad decision to not send enough troops or armor, but when someone dies and you get to see it happen.

Of course these men and women are going to be motivated to do their jobs. Anything less means that they might not make it home. Or worse, that someone else might not make it because they made a mistake or missed something.

Franki got spayed last week and she apparently has no time for pain or recovery. The vet said that she was active about a half hour after the surgery and she would never have relaxed at home if we didn't have a sedative to try and keep her calm.

She is a freak. She was trying to play with Lilly as if nothing had happened and has been as active as any other day. It looks like we will be waiting a while for the day she calms down.

I have been watching the news a little more because I have been in a pretty good mood and needed to put an end to that. Happiness is not my natural state and my body gets all messed up if it lasts for a while.

I have watched some retired military personnel question SecDef Rumsfeld, and today I saw something about General Myers saying that it wasn't the place of the military personnel, retired or otherwise, to question their bosses. Although I could understand not questioning your leaders and causing chaos in the ranks, not questioning them when they are wrong, causes death in the ranks.

Why does General Myers hate the troops and why does he remain loyal to a guy who thinks combat is nothing more than words on paper like SitReps? There is a difference between being insubordinate and concerned. Americans have died because of failed leadership following the "end of major combat." Good leaders do not assume what will happen and fail to plan for other possibilities. They also do not dismiss knowledgeable people just because they say something that differs from what you believe.

In the end, Iraq could end up being a success. But that will be in spite of and not because of the leadership from Rumsfeld and the rest of the administration. I could get home from the bar safely even though I have had too much to drink. That does not make me a good driver, it makes me lucky

Once again I am struck by the political genius of President Bush. The most intelligent thing he could do right now is to maintain public support for Donald Rumsfeld.

Getting rid of Rumsfeld would go against everything Bush believes in. Bush is not a big fan of accountability and responsibility. If he got rid of Rumsfeld, all of the things that get blamed on Rumsfeld would be switched to Bush. Sure, he would try to blame it on the new person or 9/11, but he is the one with the ultimate responsibility for all actions of his administration.

I must say though, I think I could do as good a job as SecDef as Rumsfeld. I even have military experience and am capable of admitting mistakes and adapting. Rumsfeld has spent too much trying to prove that his way can work and doesn't care what it costs to do so. The proper thing would have been to get rid of him a long time ago. The best thing for Bush is to keep him around as long as he can.
